Every birthday is a threshold. A before and an after. Most people let it pass unmarked. This is for those who know that crossing a threshold deserves a story — not a card, not a caption. Something that makes you feel, for the first time, like the hero of your own life.
There are two ways to tell that story.
The Myth is epic and sincere. The person becomes the hero they always were without knowing it. Their year, their character, their legend — written as the myth they were always living.
The Caricature is sharper and funnier. It’s a story that takes everything most recognisable about a person and turns it into fiction. Their habits, their obsessions, the things everyone who loves them knows by heart — exaggerated just enough to make them laugh, true enough to make them feel seen. Think of it as a roast written by someone who also deeply admires them.
Tell me who this person is. What defines them. What makes everyone in the room laugh when their name comes up. I will write a story that holds up a mirror to their life. So they can see themselves, perhaps for the first time, as the protagonist of something that matters. As someone whose story is worth telling.
