01Who I am

Mot Vivant is a custom fiction service run by Julie Lebreton, one writer working directly with one person at a time. When you commission a story here, you are not dealing with a company. You are dealing with a human being who will read what you share, sit with it, and write something made only for you.

Mot Vivant is based in Monaco. I am responsible for your information on this site. You can reach me at julie.motvivant@gmail.com.

02The website

This website is hosted by Squarespace. When you visit, Squarespace automatically collects certain technical information in order to run the site: your browser, network and device, your IP address, the page you came from, and how you use this site (pages visited, clicks, scrolling, searches and timestamps). This is provided to Squarespace as the hosting provider so they can operate and protect the platform. More at squarespace.com/privacy.

Analytics. I use Squarespace's built-in analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. The data is aggregated and used only to improve the site. It is not used to identify you.

Fonts. This site displays type using Google Fonts. To show the fonts, your browser shares technical information with Google, including your IP address and browser details.

Reviews. Reviews on this site come from Trustpilot. Product pages may load Trustpilot content, and Trustpilot may receive technical information about your visit. More at trustpilot.com.

03Cookies

This website uses two types of cookies. Necessary cookies are always active: they are required for Squarespace to serve this website securely and cannot be switched off. Analytics cookies are only placed after you accept them in the cookie banner. No advertising cookies are used on this site.

04When you order or book

Ordering a story. When you order, the form before checkout collects your name, your email address and the details you share about the story: who it is for, the occasion, the prompts you answer and anything else you choose to tell me. This is stored by Squarespace as part of running the shop.

Booking The Mirror Conversation. Bookings are handled by Acuity Scheduling (part of Squarespace), which stores your name, email, the time you booked and any answers you give in the booking form.

I use this information for one purpose only: to write your story, to communicate with you about it, and to deliver it. I do not analyse it, aggregate it, or use it for anything else.

05When you send me a message

The forms on the Contact and Events pages, and the Ask the Oracle form, are Squarespace forms. What you type (your name, email and message; for events the date, place and guest count; for the oracle your word and your answers) is sent to my email inbox through Squarespace, only so I can answer you or write your poem.

Ask the Oracle. If you leave your email in the oracle, I use it to send you your answers and the poem I write for you. If you also tick the box for letters, I add you to my mailing list; you can unsubscribe at any time. The oracle remembers in your browser (not on any server) that you've already seen it, so it doesn't open by itself again.

You may also write to me directly by email. Messages are kept in my email account (Gmail, Google).

Emails you may receive. After you order, I'll email you to confirm, to ask anything I need before I begin, to deliver your story and to handle your free revision. These messages are part of your order. Your email address is never used for marketing without your explicit consent.

06Payments

Payments are processed through Squarespace Payments, which works with Stripe (payment processing, stripe.com/privacy) and Sift (fraud prevention, sift.com/service-privacy). If you choose to pay in instalments, Klarna processes that payment under its own privacy policy.

I never see, store or have access to your full payment details.

07Sharing stories

What you can do with your story. It’s yours to keep, read, print and share. Wherever it goes, even if you reuse, adapt or repurpose it, keep my name with it: written by Julie, Mot Vivant. Don’t present it as your own writing.

What stays mine. I keep the rights to the writing. You may not sell it, publish it for profit, or use it commercially in any way without my written permission.

What I may do with it. As its author, I may share the stories I write, in my portfolio, on this website and in my marketing, always with names and personal details changed. If you’d rather I never share yours, tell me at any time and I won’t.

I will never sell your information, and I will never share your details with anyone beyond what this policy describes.

Your story was made for one person. That is not a policy position. It is what I believe.

08How long I keep it

I keep your order details for as long as I need to deliver your story and handle your revision. Once an order is complete, I don't keep personal information beyond what I need (for example, for accounting records the law requires). Squarespace and the other services above keep their own technical data according to their own policies.

Data transfers. Squarespace and some of the services above are based in the United States, so some data may be stored there. Squarespace manages these transfers through standard contractual clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

09Your rights

Mot Vivant is based in Monaco, so your information is protected by Monaco's law on personal data (Law No. 1.565 of 3 December 2024). If you live in the European Union, the GDPR protects you too.

You have the right to know what personal information I hold about you, to receive a copy of it, to correct it, to ask me to delete it, and to object to or restrict how it is used. Write to me at julie.motvivant@gmail.com. I will answer you personally, not with an automated reply.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
